Murfreesboro – A Better Quality of Life
Murfreesboro is a city in Tennessee, and is home to the Stones River National Battlefield. The historic site also contains the cemetery for over 6,000 Union soldiers. The city is also home to Oaklands Mansion, a former plantation house, with an arboretum and gardens. You can also explore regional history in Cannonsburgh Village, a restored 1830s historic village.
The community started out as a rural farming community. Cotton, corn, and tobacco were the main crops. After the Civil War, the town started to change. After the war, several colleges were established in the area, and the city grew. It gained the nickname “Athens of Tennessee”. The town’s economy started to grow again after the war. The city doesn’t have a large downtown area, but it does have an enchanting Main Street, where many community events take place. There is also a Friday night live performance, and a decent farmer’s market. The city also hosts a Saturday market on Main Street, where local produce and other items are sold.
The city’s motto is “Better Quality of Life.” Money magazine has ranked Murfreesboro as one of the top 100 places to live in the United States. Despite its small size, Murfreesboro is growing, and there is a community-wide plan to help make the city even better. While visiting Murfreesboro, make sure to check out the Stones River National Battlefield. This Civil War battlefield contains parts of the southern wall, as well as remnants of Lunettes Thomas and Palmer, and the earthworks of Redoubt Brannan. You can also view the remains of Lunette Negley and other Confederate soldiers.
The city is home to many good restaurants. If you are looking for something a little different, try Mayday Brewery on Old Salem Road. It offers craft beer and delicious food. They also host live music performances. The Old Fort Golf Club is another great venue in Murfreesboro. It has hosted several professional golf tournaments, including the Senior PGA Tour, the Tennessee Section PGA, and the TGA championships.
The city is 35 miles south of Nashville, and is home to Middle Tennessee State University. Murfreesboro is a vibrant city, with a booming economy and fantastic outdoor access. The downtown area is centered around The Square, which features local restaurants and community events. It is also home to Middle Tennessee State University, which gives the city a youthful feel. The city’s job market is expected to grow by 10% over the next several years.
